The Jacksonville High School was made aware of a possible bomb threat earlier this morning. Jacksonville Police Department and school officials immediately evacuated the building and all students were brought to the football stadium.

The school issued a statement and posted it on their Facebook page,

“Parents: We have been made aware of an alleged bomb threat against Jacksonville High School. Students have been evacuated, and are safe and accounted for at this time, away from the building. Police are here on the scene with canine units to search for any potential threat. We ask that you do not arrive to check out your children at this time, while we are investigating. We will release more information as it becomes available”.

Ben Nunnally, Jacksonville City Public Information Officer, said that there are multiple K-9’s and handlers inside the building and they are searching every area thoroughly. K-9’s from Vapor Wake K-9’s are assisting law enforcement with the search and have provided multiple dogs with explosive detection abilities.

Nunnally also re-stated that no one should come to the area of the school to allow 1st responders the ability to access the area’s they need to with out any delays.

This is a developing story and we will release more as it happens.
