JACKSONVILLE, AL – The City of Jacksonville Fire Department is expanding its community safety initiative with a new series of free first aid classes open to residents of Jacksonville and surrounding communities.
The department will offer three monthly classes on Saturdays from May through July, each focusing on different life-saving skills. The classes will be held at the Public Safety Complex located at 911 Public Safety Drive SW, behind Walmart.
The schedule includes Basic CPR on May 31, Basic First Aid on June 21, and Bleeding Control on July 12. While these classes are non-certified and don’t provide professional qualifications, they aim to equip participants with crucial skills for emergency situations.
“These classes provide valuable information for saving lives and can help someone stabilize a person in crisis while emergency services are on the way,” said a department spokesperson.
In a new development this year, the Fire Department has opened registration to residents from surrounding communities, including White Plains and Weaver.
For more information about the free first aid classes, interested participants can contact class instructor David Bell at david.bell@jaxfire.org.
The Jacksonville Fire Department continues its commitment to community safety through education, with these classes representing an important resource for residents wanting to be prepared for emergencies.
Registration is now open, and community members are encouraged to take advantage of this free opportunity to learn potentially life-saving skills.
