Jacksonville, AL – The vibrant of Jacksonville is preparing for a weekend filled with music and a heartfelt celebration in honor of Veterans Day. The Jacksonville State University (JSU) community is all set to present two remarkable events that will bring together the community and pay tribute to the nation’s heroes.

On Thursday, November 9, the JSU Chamber Winds and Symphonic Band will take center stage to present “American Voices.” The concert, which is set to be a fanfare of patriotic tunes, is sure to captivate the hearts of all who attend. The performance will commence at 7:30 p.m. in the esteemed Leone Cole Auditorium, promising a memorable evening for attendees. It is worth noting that admission to this musical extravaganza is free, and the event is open to the public, making it an ideal opportunity for all music enthusiasts to immerse themselves in the soul-stirring melodies. For those eager to know more about the song selections, a graphic with the details is attached for reference.

The patriotic spirit continues into the following day, Friday, November 10, as JSU joins forces with the City of Jacksonville to host the annual Veterans Day Celebration. This event is scheduled to commence at 10 a.m. in the TMB Auditorium. The highlight of the day will be the performance by the JSU Brass Quintet, who will deliver patriotic music that beautifully captures the essence of the occasion.

In addition to the musical tributes, the Veterans Day Celebration will also feature two guest speakers who will share their unique insights and experiences with the audience. One of the speakers is Col. Eric Sloughfy, a retired U.S. Army logistics officer, who currently serves as a military science instructor for the JSU Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC). The second speaker is Cadet Arisa Devine, a dedicated JSU ROTC student who represents the promising future of the nation’s military.

The Jacksonville community is invited to join in this heartwarming tribute to our veterans. This event, like the musical concert, is open to everyone, emphasizing the inclusivity and unity that defines this occasion. Veterans, active-duty military personnel, their families, and the general public are all encouraged to attend to show their support and appreciation for the brave men and women who have served and continue to serve their country.
