Jacksonville, AL – The Jacksonville State University (JSU) Student Government Association (SGA) proudly announces the swearing-in of Kaitlyn Letson as its new President, marking a significant transition in student leadership at the institution.

Hailing from Moulton, Alabama, Letson brings a wealth of experience and dedication to her new role. Currently pursuing her master’s degree in public administration with a focus on Criminal Justice, she has exhibited a strong commitment to academic excellence and campus involvement throughout her tenure at JSU.

Letson’s journey at JSU is characterized by her active engagement in various student organizations, including Delta Zeta, Collegiate Legislature, Freshman Forum, and Lambda Sigma. Her multifaceted approach to campus life underscores her unwavering dedication to student advocacy and community service.

Prior to assuming the presidency, Letson served as the SGA Vice President of Student Senate. Her transition to the presidency follows established protocols outlined in the SGA Constitution, where the Vice President of Student Senate assumes the role of SGA President in the event of a vacancy or resignation. Letson’s elevation to this office reflects both her personal merit and the institutional framework guiding governance at JSU.

Expressing her enthusiasm for her new role, Letson affirmed her commitment to serving as a voice for all students. She stated, “Although SGA President was not the position I originally was elected to, I look forward to being a strong voice advocating for the needs and interests of the entire student body.”

Dr. Don C. Killingsworth, Jr., University President, welcomed Letson into her new role, emphasizing her dedication to student advocacy and exemplary leadership qualities. He expressed confidence in Letson’s ability to represent the student body with integrity and passion.

As Letson assumes the presidency, she pledges to prioritize the concerns and aspirations of JSU students. Her commitment to fostering inclusivity and vibrancy within the campus community signals a future marked by collaboration, innovation, and meaningful progress.

Looking ahead, Letson will appoint a temporary Vice President of Student Senate, with a special election scheduled for the fall semester to fill the VPSS role. This transition represents a continuation of the vibrant student leadership tradition at JSU, ensuring a seamless transition and sustained focus on student welfare and engagement.
