JACKSONVILLE, AL — Residents and visitors are invited to celebrate America’s 250th birthday during the 250 Ladiga Freedom Ride on Sunday, June 28, 2026, along the historic Chief Ladiga Trail.
The free community bicycle ride will begin and end at Chief Ladiga Landing, located at 7201 Alexandria-Jacksonville Highway in Jacksonville. Participants will travel north on the trail as part of a 25-mile round-trip ride.
The event is scheduled to begin at 2:50 p.m., a symbolic start time recognizing the nation’s 250th anniversary. Organizers encourage riders to wear red, white, and blue attire as part of the celebration.
Participation is free, and no registration is required. Riders of all experience levels are welcome to take part in the event and enjoy one of Alabama’s most popular recreational trails while commemorating the nation’s milestone birthday.
The Chief Ladiga Trail is Alabama’s first rails-to-trails project and stretches across east Alabama, connecting communities and providing opportunities for outdoor recreation.
For those planning to attend, organizers recommend arriving early and bringing appropriate safety equipment, water, and weather-appropriate clothing.
