Tanner Harmon has been a part of the Boy Scouts since first grade. His Mother, Miranda Harmon-Sparks, said “I am super thankful that this day has come to fruition for Tanner Harmon . He told me that this, obtaining his Eagle Scout, was his goal when he was in the 1st grade. Has it been easy, no. Has it been fun all the time, also, no. Has it been a learning experience for everyone involved and made him and everyone else better people, most definitely. I am so proud of his achievements and setting this goal for himself and sticking to it. He now sees the end result and is proud to be in the elite 2% group of individuals who have obtained their Eagle. I am thankful for the amazing leadership that he has had since the beginning and still has.”

The Eagle Scout Banquet was held at Unity Point Church in Wellborn at 124 Amerson St. Anniston, 36201.  To earn the Eagle Scout Rank has many requirements, but the largest is the service project. For Tanner’s project he choose to clean the outdoor seating area at his family’s church, Unity Point in Wellborn. The church was donated almost 2 years ago and the church members helped re-model it from the basement up. The outside was one area that had not been completed, but needed done as well. Tanner saw a need and took it on. It had over 20 years of growth and he had about 25 people there helping clear it all off so benches can be built for outdoor services. The outdoor area will serve many in the Wellborn community as well as the church family.

Tanner is a part of Troop 10 in Oxford and is a chartered organization through The Oxford Golden Kiwanis. The troop does regular community service projects such as Wreaths Across America done yesterday at Ft. McClellan.
