Marshall Joins Multi-State Coalition Supporting Trump Administration’s Energy Policies

Attorney General Marshall Supports Trump Administration’s Defense of American Energy Producers

Montgomery, AL – Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall has joined a coalition of 16 attorneys general in supporting the Trump Administration’s efforts to protect and promote the U.S. energy industry. In a letter addressed to U.S. Attorney General Pamela Bondi, the coalition expressed strong support for policies aimed at shielding energy producers from legal challenges and regulatory actions related to climate change.

Led by West Virginia and Nebraska, the letter urges the U.S. Department of Justice to take additional steps to safeguard traditional energy sectors. The recommendations include preempting state-level climate regulations that penalize energy companies for greenhouse gas emissions, especially those produced out-of-state. The coalition also proposed measures such as withholding federal funds from states enacting restrictive energy policies, streamlining energy facility permitting, expanding federal grant eligibility, and urging the U.S. Supreme Court to take a more active role in reviewing energy-related legal cases.

Attorney General Marshall voiced support for the administration’s efforts to reduce regulatory burdens and promote energy independence, stating that affordable and reliable energy remains a critical need for Alabama residents.

The Biden Administration and several state and local governments have enacted or supported various climate-focused regulations that critics argue create legal and financial risks for traditional energy producers. In response, the Trump Administration has issued executive orders, initiated legal actions, and launched a task force focused on countering anti-competitive energy regulations.
