OHATCHEE, AL — The Ohatchee Police Department has announced the arrest of four teenagers in connection with an ongoing burglary investigation.
According to Police Chief Alan Kelly, each of the four suspects has been charged with Burglary in the First Degree. Due to the nature of the alleged offense and the provisions of Alabama law, all four have been charged as adults.
Chief Kelly said the charges meet the criteria established under Aniah’s Law, making the defendants eligible for detention hearings regarding pretrial release.
The defendants appeared before the court on Friday for their Aniah’s Law hearings. Following the proceedings, the presiding judge set bond amounts and imposed conditions of release. The cases have since been scheduled for preliminary hearings.
The investigation remains active, and authorities said additional investigative steps are ongoing.
At this time, the Ohatchee Police Department is not releasing further details in an effort to protect the integrity of the investigation. The department said additional information will be made available when it can be released without compromising the case.
