OXFORD, Ala. — FabArc Steel Supply, Inc., an Oxford-based steel fabrication company, has completed its original structural steel scope for a major solar cell manufacturing facility under construction in Rockdale, Texas. The company fabricated and supplied approximately 3,374 tons of structural steel for the project, known as G2_Austin Solar Cell Fab.
The project is owned by T1 Energy, Inc., with W. G. Yates & Sons Construction Company serving as the general contractor. FabArc’s work began in early 2026 and was completed in September 2026, according to the company’s announcement.
FabArc’s contribution included 749 columns, 4,459 beams, 222 roof trusses and approximately 6,800 square feet of steel grating. PBI, Inc. is serving as the structural steel erector, while International Design Services, Inc. is providing steel detailing services.

T1 Energy has said the first phase of the Texas facility represents an investment of $400 million to $425 million and is expected to create up to 1,800 advanced manufacturing jobs in Milam County. Once operational, the first phase is expected to have the capacity to produce up to 2.1 gigawatts of high-efficiency TOPCon solar cells annually. Those figures are company projections, and the facility’s full operations and employment levels remain future milestones.
For FabArc, the project represents another large-scale assignment beyond Alabama for a company with longstanding roots in Calhoun County. Founded in 1979, FabArc is headquartered in Oxford and operates two manufacturing plants with more than 300,000 square feet of fabrication space. The company reports a workforce of more than 300 employees and annual production capacity exceeding 40,000 tons.
FabArc is an AISC-certified fabrication facility and is 100% employee-owned. Its work includes structural steel fabrication for commercial and industrial projects across the United States.
The completion of the Texas steel scope highlights the role an Oxford-based manufacturer plays in national construction and manufacturing projects, while the anticipated economic impact of the solar facility will primarily be realized in Texas.
