Oxford, AL – The Oxford City Council approved two resolutions during its regular meeting Tuesday, July 28, while also recognizing local parks and recreation staff and honoring promotions within the Oxford Police Department. Council member Phil Gardner was absent from the meeting.
The meeting began with a proclamation recognizing July as Parks and Recreation Month. The proclamation was accepted by Pam Harris and Ashley Bias on behalf of Oxford Parks and Recreation (PARD).
Oxford Police Chief Daniel Phipps also recognized two departmental promotions during the meeting. Lt. Bryan Rush and Lt. Corey Gravette were honored for their advancements within the department.
The council unanimously approved the consent agenda by a 4-0 vote.
Among the approved items was Resolution No. 2026-61, authorizing Mayor Alton Craft to execute a sponsorship agreement with the Alabama Student Angler Bass Fishing Association. The agreement provides $14,000 in sponsorship funding for the organization’s State Championship Tournament, scheduled for May 6-8, 2027.
Council members also approved Resolution No. 2026-62, authorizing the mayor to enter into a construction agreement for an Industrial Access Project. The project includes grading, drainage, base work and paving to extend Oxford West Industrial Park Road in support of Project Sable.
The Oxford City Council’s next regular meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2026.
