OXFORD, AL — Residents looking for a creative and relaxing evening will have the opportunity to explore the art of junk journaling during Junk Journal Night on Monday, June 1, at the Oxford Civic Center.
Hosted by Oxford Parks and Recreation in partnership with Oxford Scrap Society, the event will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and is designed for participants of all skill levels, from beginners to experienced journal enthusiasts.
Junk journaling combines elements of scrapbooking, collage, and journaling into a personalized creative experience. Participants use a variety of materials, including decorative papers, magazine clippings, vintage ephemera, stickers, and washi tape to create unique journal pages and keepsakes.
Organizers say the event is intended to provide a low-pressure environment where attendees can relax, express creativity, and connect with others who share an interest in crafting.
Each participant will receive a journal, although attendees are welcome to bring their own. A variety of supplies and crafting tools will also be provided, including decorative and recycled papers, magazine clippings, vintage additions, stickers, glue, scissors, and other materials. Participants may also bring personal photos, specialty papers, or keepsakes to incorporate into their projects.
Pre-registration is required, and attendance is limited. Registration will close once all available spots have been filled.
The event will be held at the Oxford Civic Center, located at 401 McCullars Lane in Oxford.
