ANNISTON, AL — The Public Library of Anniston-Calhoun County will officially launch its 2026 Summer Reading Program, “Unearth a Story,” with a petting zoo event on Thursday, June 4.
The event is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the library, located at 108 E. 10th Street in Anniston.
According to event information released by the library, attendees will have the opportunity to interact with animals provided by Dustbunnies & Doghair as part of the summer program kickoff celebration.
The Summer Reading Program encourages children and families to stay engaged in reading throughout the summer months while participating in educational and recreational activities offered by the library.
The petting zoo event is open to the public, and organizers have indicated that anyone may attend regardless of Facebook membership. As of the event posting, 69 people had responded to the event online.
The “Unearth a Story” theme will serve as the foundation for the library’s summer programming, offering participants opportunities to explore reading, learning, and discovery through a variety of activities and events throughout the season.
