Montgomery, AL – Mike Rogers announced his support for several pro-law enforcement measures currently before Congress in recognition of National Police Week.
In a statement released Thursday, Rogers said support for law enforcement has remained a key priority throughout his time in Congress and emphasized the importance of recognizing officers for their service and sacrifices.
“Support for law enforcement has long been a bedrock issue for me throughout my time in Congress,” Rogers stated. “Every year during National Police Week, we recognize our brave law enforcement officers and the challenges they face every day.”
Rogers also addressed concerns regarding criticism law enforcement officers have faced in recent years and expressed confidence that officers have support from the current administration and Republican-led Congress.
The Alabama congressman announced his support for multiple law enforcement-related bills and resolutions during the 119th Congress, including:
- H. RES. 1252 – A resolution memorializing law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.
- H.R. 2853 – The Combating Organized Retail Crime Act of 2025.
- H.R. 2267 – The NICS Data Reporting Act of 2026.
- H.R. 8352 – The Criminal History Access Act of 2026.
- H.R. 6260 – The Keeping Violent Offenders Off Our Streets Act of 2025.
- H.R. 5625 – The Cashless Bail Reporting Act.
- H. CON. RES. 96 – A resolution expressing support for law enforcement officers.
National Police Week is observed annually in May to honor law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty and to recognize the service of officers across the country. Communities throughout Alabama, including several events held during the week in Calhoun County, have participated in ceremonies and gatherings recognizing law enforcement personnel.
