Calhoun County 4-H Robbery

Calhoun County, AL – The Calhoun County 4-H Shooting Sports and Storage Facility at McClellan was targeted by thieves in late April. The facility, which serves as a hub for nurturing young shooting sports enthusiasts, fell victim to a robbery that resulted in the loss of bows, arrows, and air rifle ammunition. The incident has prompted a rallying cry for support, with the 4-H community seeking to recover and fortify their beloved establishment.

The 4-H Shooting Sports and Storage Facility is more than just a building; it’s a sanctuary for budding archers and marksmen to hone their skills, learn discipline, and develop a sense of camaraderie. The theft of bows, arrows, and air rifle ammunition not only dealt a financial blow but also struck at the heart of the community’s mission to provide a safe and educational environment for young people.

In response to this unfortunate event, the community has united to rebuild and safeguard the facility. Two generous donors have already stepped forward, pledging $1,000 each to replace the stolen bows. Their commitment is a testament to the resilience and determination of the 4-H community. However, the road to recovery is far from over. The loss of arrows and air rifle ammunition, vital components for the facility’s operations, presents an additional challenge that requires immediate attention.

To address these pressing needs, the Calhoun County branch of the Alabama Extension Office is reaching out to the wider community for support. The need for additional financial assistance is evident, as the cost of replacing arrows and air rifle ammunition requires a collective effort.
