LEXINGTON, Ky. — Alabama State Senator Andrew Jones has been named one of 20 recipients of the 2024 Council of State Governments (CSG) 20 Under 40 Leadership Award, a distinction that recognizes young leaders who are making significant contributions to public service across the United States.
The award highlights the accomplishments of elected and appointed officials under the age of 40 who exemplify innovative leadership and a commitment to bipartisan collaboration. Senator Jones, representing Alabama’s District 10, expressed gratitude for the honor, stating:
“I’m honored to be selected for this prestigious national award. Being a hardworking, effective advocate for the State of Alabama and the people of District 10 has been my top priority since day one, and it is both humbling and encouraging to have those efforts recognized. I appreciate the confidence that the citizens of my district have placed in me to allow me to represent them in the Alabama Senate.”
The 2024 cohort of honorees represent 16 states and territories across all four CSG regions. According to David Adkins, CSG Executive Director and CEO, the recipients embody the core values of civility, collaboration, and innovation, serving as inspirations for the future of state government.
The CSG 20 Under 40 Leadership Award was launched in 2020 and has since recognized 100 young leaders who have demonstrated excellence in advancing meaningful policies, fostering bipartisan relationships, and enhancing the lives of their constituents.
This year’s recipients will be honored at the 2024 CSG National Conference in December. Nominations for the next class of awardees will reopen in spring 2025.
