Senator Katie Britt Joins Bipartisan Resolution Condemning Antisemitic Violence Nationwide

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-AL) has joined Senators John Fetterman (D-PA), Dave McCormick (R-PA), and other Senate colleagues in introducing S. Res. 288, a bipartisan resolution condemning the recent rise in violent antisemitic attacks across the United States.

The resolution responds to several high-profile incidents, including an assault in Boulder, Colorado; an arson attack targeting the Pennsylvania Governor’s residence; and the fatal stabbing of two Israeli embassy staff members outside the Capitol Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C. Senators emphasized that these events reflect a broader surge in antisemitic threats facing Jewish communities nationwide.

Senator Britt underscored the urgency of Congressional unity on this issue. “Given the disturbing rise in antisemitism at home and across the globe, I believe it is incumbent upon Congress to continue sending a resounding message that the United States denounces this unacceptable discrimination,” Britt said. “We have a moral obligation to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our Jewish brothers and sisters.”

Senator Fetterman, referencing the 2018 Tree of Life Synagogue shooting in his home state, stated that recent incidents are part of a persistent pattern of hate. “We are starkly reminded that silence is complicity,” he said.

Senator McCormick, who resides in Squirrel Hill near the Tree of Life Synagogue, echoed those concerns, saying, “Protecting my friends and neighbors, and all Jewish people across the country, must be a national priority.”

In addition to co-sponsoring the resolution, Senator Britt has supported other legislative efforts addressing antisemitism. She recently joined Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) in reintroducing the Stop Antisemitism on College Campuses Act, aimed at rescinding federal funding from institutions found to support antisemitic activities. She also reintroduced the Antisemitism Awareness Act, which calls for the Department of Education to apply the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s definition of antisemitism when reviewing campus incidents.

Britt, who has written publicly on the dangers of rising antisemitism, warned, “These attacks are not isolated — they are part of a dangerous and growing trend that endangers the safety, dignity, and freedom of Jewish Americans.”

The resolution continues to gather bipartisan support, highlighting a shared concern across party lines about the escalating threat of antisemitic violence in the U.S.
