WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) was honored with the “2025 U.S. Metalcasting Industry Congressional Champion” award by the American Foundry Society (AFS). The award recognizes members of Congress who have shown consistent support for the metalcasting industry and its role in the U.S. economy.
Senator Britt accepted the award during the AFS Government Affairs Fly-In, an annual event that brings industry stakeholders together in the nation’s capital to discuss policy issues relevant to metalcasters.
In her remarks, Senator Britt emphasized the importance of the industry to American manufacturing and economic strength, particularly in Alabama. She highlighted her continued advocacy for policies aimed at supporting domestic manufacturing, national infrastructure, and workforce development.
The recognition was jointly supported by AFS, McWane, Inc., AMERICAN Cast Iron Pipe, and other Alabama-based metalcasting companies.
Doug Kurkul, CEO of the American Foundry Society, commended Britt’s leadership on issues impacting manufacturers, noting her commitment to pro-growth legislation and national security.
The metalcasting industry plays a significant role in producing critical components used in transportation, energy, defense, and water infrastructure systems, supporting thousands of jobs nationwide.
