Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-AL) has been recognized with the 2026 Hometown Hero Award by the Alabama League of Municipalities (ALM), honoring her efforts to support local communities and improve quality of life across the state.
The award highlights Britt’s ongoing work in the U.S. Senate and her collaboration with municipal leaders throughout Alabama. The recognition was presented during a gathering that included leaders from municipalities across the state, as well as ALM officials.
The Alabama League of Municipalities presents the Hometown Hero Award to individuals who demonstrate a strong commitment to advancing local communities. Britt’s selection reflects her involvement in initiatives aimed at economic development, infrastructure improvement, and strengthening partnerships between federal, state, and local governments.
Leaders present for the award included ALM Executive Director Greg Cochran, Deputy Director Kayla Bass, Riverside Mayor Rusty Jessup, Fairhope Mayor Sherry Sullivan, and Dothan Mayor Mark Saliba.
Upon receiving the award, Senator Britt emphasized her focus on advocating for Alabama’s interests at the federal level.
“Each and every day in the U.S. Senate, I’m fighting hard for our values, our people, and our state. Nothing is more important to me than growing opportunity in Alabama, and I am so fortunate to have such outstanding state partners who share this goal and actively communicate the needs and priorities of their communities,” Britt said.
She highlighted several initiatives she has supported, including efforts related to economic investment, infrastructure, and workforce development across the state.
“I have fought tirelessly for our state, and our work is just getting started. I am honored to receive the Hometown Heroes Award as I continue to ensure that every room I’m in, Alabama has a strong seat at the table,” Britt added.
According to information shared during the award presentation, Senator Britt has helped secure more than $456 million in federal funding for projects across Alabama. These funds have supported a range of initiatives, including improvements to roads and bridges, investments in military installations, and resources for rural communities.
Additional efforts have included support for workforce development programs, partnerships with higher education institutions, and economic development projects aimed at expanding opportunities throughout the state.
Britt has also been involved in advocating for large-scale investments and infrastructure enhancements designed to strengthen Alabama’s long-term economic outlook.
Senator Britt indicated that she plans to continue working alongside local and state leaders to address community needs and expand opportunities for residents across Alabama.
