Single-Vehicle Crash Claims Life of 17-Year-Old Piedmont Teen

Fatality

Cleburne County, AL — A single-vehicle crash in Cleburne County on Wednesday, April 1, has resulted in the death of a 17-year-old from Piedmont, according to authorities.

The crash occurred at approximately 2:29 p.m. on Cleburne County Road 70, near Cleburne County Road 230, about eight miles east of the Piedmont city limits.

Officials reported that the teen was a passenger in a 2016 Chevrolet Trax when the vehicle left the roadway, overturned, and struck multiple trees. The 17-year-old was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, was ejected from the vehicle, and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle, a 16-year-old also from Piedmont, sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The crash remains under investigation by Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division. No additional details have been released at this time.
