Anniston, AL – Regional Medical Center (RMC) announced that Dr. Mohamad Eloubeidi, Director of Therapeutic Endoscopy and Endoscopic Ultrasound, has been awarded the prestigious Master of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (MASGE) designation—one of the highest honors in the field of gastroenterology.
According to RMC, Dr. Eloubeidi is the first physician in Alabama to receive the distinction. The MASGE designation is awarded to a select group of physicians who have demonstrated significant contributions to research, education, and leadership in gastrointestinal endoscopy.
The recognition represents an advanced level beyond the Fellow of ASGE (FASGE) credential, which Dr. Eloubeidi has held for more than a decade. Unlike many professional designations, MASGE is not open for application. Recipients are selected by the ASGE Governing Board based on sustained impact in the specialty. Fewer than 100 physicians worldwide currently hold the title.
“This is an incredible honor, and I am both humbled and grateful,” said Dr. Eloubeidi. “Throughout my career, my focus has been on advancing care, contributing to research, and improving outcomes for patients. To be recognized by my peers in this way is truly meaningful.”
Dr. Eloubeidi has practiced medicine for nearly 31 years and has served the RMC community for 13 years. He has authored more than 300 peer-reviewed articles and is recognized for his expertise in advanced endoscopic procedures. RMC also noted his involvement in clinical research and innovation, including performing a first-in-state procedure that received national recognition.
Dr. Almena Free, Chief Medical Officer at RMC, said the recognition highlights both individual achievement and the level of care available locally.
“Dr. Eloubeidi’s recognition as a Master of ASGE reflects not only his individual excellence, but also the level of care available right here in our community,” Free said. “We are proud to have a physician of his caliber leading our endoscopy program.”
Hospital officials say the designation underscores RMC’s continued efforts to provide advanced medical care in the region, allowing patients access to nationally recognized expertise close to home.
