Anniston, AL – On Thursday, October 16, 2025, at approximately 9:30pm the Calhoun County Courthouse was officially attacked but a response was rapid. Piedmont Police Chief, Nathan Johnson, and Calhoun County Sheriff, Falon Hurst, began hearing “chatter” that a small cell of Toilet Paper Terrorists were planning an attack on a hard target in Anniston. Through the gathering of intelligence, they were able to identify the potential target as the Courthouse, primarily the Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicles. Chief Johnson said, “Although we were hearing the chatter we did not want to communicate with them because we don’t negotiate with TP Terrorists”.
Sheriff Hurst immediately developed a tactical plan with their emergency response team and ordered them on ready stand-by for the possible engagement. Then at 9:30pm, the counterattack team started seeing enemy movement in the parking lot. One by one, they attacked the vehicles with military precision as they continued to advance forward with purpose. When the unidentified attackers were within counterassault range, the SWAT team, fully armed with nerf guns, initiated their counterattack. The TP Terrorists were taken by surprise and immediately attempted to initiate a rapid retreat only to be run down by the rapid response team. “It was time for shock and awe”, said Sheriff Hurst, “This is our backyard, and we will not sit idly by.” The cell was quickly taken down, and the attack was over as quickly as it started. “Some of our vehicles fell victim to the massive TP deployment but were able to save the parking lot”, said Sheriff Hurst. Chief Johnson was also on scene due to the cell originating in Piedmont. Chief Johnson stated, “I wanted to help see this responded to as quickly as possible to ensure there was no unnecessary shortages of toilet paper in our local community”.
With all the joking and lightheartedness of this interaction, the majority of the kids remained behind and interacted with the law enforcement officers that were present. There were a lot of smiles and genuine laughter from both sides as they discussed what had just happened. Sheriff Hurst said, “We appreciate the youth of our community and to engage as positively as possible.” Chief Johnson also stated, “We deal with the serious stuff all the time and when we have the opportunity to have a little fun with our youth its quite refreshing. This has been a long week, but the kids have been great, and it was just good old fashioned clean fun”.
The kids remained in the parking lot until sometime between 10:30 and 11:00pm and the deputies then cleaned up the parking lot and vehicles prior to leaving.
