Spring roundup

Calhoun County, AL – Alexandria baseball gets a no-no from Snow, production up and down the order in victory over Glencoe. Piedmont put up 10 runs in victory. Munford baseball downs Springville. Pleasant Valley opens with a victory, and JCA tops Anniston. Cleburne County, Ohatchee victorious. Oxford softball gets third consecutive win.

 

Bear and Sons

GLENCOE — Evan Snow pitched a no-hitter, and Alexandria got production up and down the lineup while beating Glencoe 13-0 in Thursday’s high school baseball action.

Snow pitched all five innings, striking out seven batters with one walk as Alexandria improved to 3-1.

He also helped Alexandria’s order keep him comfortable, going 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs.

Ian Cartwright and Nic Thompson hit solo home runs. Cartwright scored three runs and Thompson two.

Aiden Bruner went 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs, and Samuel Henegar went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and three runs.

Alexandria got at least one RBI from seven different batters.

PIEDMONT 10, WHITE PLAINS 5: McClane Mohon and Kale Austin drove in two runs apiece as Piedmont improved to 1-1.

Mohon was 2-for-3 and scored two runs. Austin went 1-for-4.

Piedmont also got an RBI apiece from Trevor Pike, Hayes Gunn, Brodie Homesley and Jonah Pike.

Trevor Pike and Cole Austin scored two runs apiece.

Cole Austin got the win, pitching the first four innings. He allowed five hits, two earned runs and no walks with four strikeouts.

For White Plains, Dalton Luker had a double and two RBIs. Braxton Curles went 3-for-4 with a run and RBI.

Ian Douglas went 3-for-4 with a double and scored a run, and Braxton Borelli had a single and RBI.

PLEASANT VALLEY 16, FAITH CHRISTIAN 5: Pleasant Valley (1-0) pounded out 10 hits, with Holt Bentley and Noah Johnson accounting for three RBIs apiece.

Bentley went 1-for-3 with a run, and Johnson went 2-for-4 with two runs.

Bryce Freeman singled and drove in two runs, and the Raiders got an RBI apiece from Samuel Duncan, Caleb Shew and Will Underwood. Duncan hit a triple.

Johnson got the win, working three innings of relief. He allowed one hit and one earned run with four strikeouts.

For Faith, Vinson Montgomery singled and drove in two runs. Brady Whitworth went 2-for-4 with a run and RBI.

OHATCHEE 15, SAkS 0: Jake Roberson went 3-for-4 and drove in four runs to lead Ohatchee’s offensive surge. He also scored three runs.

Xavier Luna added three RBIs and a run.

Will Folsom had a double and two RBIs, and Ethan Jones went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Tyler Green had a single and RBI and scored two runs, and Jesse Baswell walked twice and drove in a run.

On the mound, Jones pitched a five-inning complete game, allowing three hits and three walks with nine strikeouts.

CLEBURNE COUNTY 10, RANDOLPH COUNTY 0: Jayson Deese singled and drove in three runs as Cleburne County improved to 3-0.

Nolen Wright went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs, and Hunter Gore was 2-for-2 with an RBI and two runs.

M Wilson doubled and drove in a run, and Jake Littleton singled and had an RBI.

On the mound, Wright got the win, pitching a perfect first three innings with four strikeouts. Gabriel Wickwrsham allowed one hit with two strikeouts in two innings of relief.

JACKSONVILLE CHRISTIAN 11, ANNISTON 0: Jesse Gannaway pitched a one-hitter with six strikeouts, and Noah Lee got a save with two strikeouts.

At the plate, Travis Barnhill went 4-for-4 with four runs and two RBIs. He hit two triples and two doubles.

Lee went 2-for-3 with two doubles, and Grant Dalton had a single and two RBIs. The Thunder also got an RBI apiece from Bryson Dowdey and Skylar Crider.

MUNFORD 6, SPRINGVILLE 2: Mason Brewer hit two doubles and a triple while going 3-for-4 with four RBIs to lead the Lions (5-1).

Jacob King went 2-for-3 with a double and scored twice.

On the mound, Justin Nichols got the win, working the first five innings. He allowed four hits and two earned runs. Brody Wilson worked two perfect innings of relief with four strikeouts.

Softball

OXFORD 7, MUNFORD 4: Berkley Mooey went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, and Oxford (3-5) bagged its third consecutive win

Adajiah Wilson had a solo home run among her two hits and scored two runs, and JaMea Gaston doubled and drove in two runs.

Emma Tims-Becerra doubled with an RBI and scored a run.

Kaelyn Crossley pitched a complete game, allowing four earned runs with six strikeouts and two walks.

Munford got an RBI apiece from Jena Gaither, Brooklyn Pressley and Addyson Britt. Pressley and Kastin Latham had three hits apiece, and Gaither went 2-for-4. Pressley hit a triple and double, and the Lions got a double apiece from Latham and Gaither.
