Calhoun County, AL – Alabama State Senator Keith Kelley announced today that he is running for reelection in Senate District 12, citing his legislative record and a continued focus on conservative, faith-driven leadership.
“I ran for the Senate because I felt called to serve — and that calling is stronger today than ever,” Kelley said. “I’ve seen what principled leadership can accomplish when it’s rooted in faith, common sense, and hard work. I’m running again because Alabama families still need a senator who will stand firm and deliver results.”
During his first term, Kelley supported and sponsored legislation aimed at addressing cost-of-living concerns and public safety. Among the measures highlighted in his announcement was legislation that reduced the state grocery sales tax by half. Kelley also sponsored the Houston Hunter Act, which established a voluntary firearm safekeeping program intended to support veterans and first responders experiencing a crisis while maintaining constitutional protections.
Kelley’s legislative work also included measures providing local oversight of halfway houses in Calhoun County, updates to public safety laws, and support for education funding initiatives. Those initiatives included teacher pay raises, weighted funding for special-needs students, expanded school choice options, and workforce training programs.
“I believe government should work for the people, not against them,” Kelley said. “That means cutting taxes, protecting parental rights, standing with law enforcement and veterans, and creating an environment where small businesses and rural communities can thrive.”
Looking ahead, Kelley said his reelection campaign will center on three priorities: protecting families and children, expanding economic opportunity and job growth—particularly in rural areas—and strengthening public safety and property rights.
Senate District 12 includes communities across Calhoun and Talladega counties, including Anniston, Oxford, Jacksonville, Sylacauga, Piedmont, and surrounding areas. Kelley emphasized that maintaining accessibility and engagement with constituents will remain a central part of his approach.
“I show up. I listen. And I follow through,” Kelley said. “That’s how I’ve served, and that’s how I’ll continue to serve.”
