Jacksonville’s Taylor surpasses career milestone in victory. JCA sweeps Saks, and Wheeler’s hot hand leads way for Alexandria boys.
JACKSONVILLE — Jayci Taylor surpassed a career milestone, and Jacksonville’s girls came away victorious Saturday.
Taylor led the way with 17 points, 19 rebounds and two assists, and the Golden Eagles edged visiting Minor 49-47.
Taylor hit a free throw early in the third quarter to reach 1,000 career points. She came into the game needing 11 points.
She also hit two 3-pointers on the day.
Neveah Nicholson added 10 points to go with seven rebounds, two steals and an assist. Raybon Pridgen contributed seven rebounds, and KeAsiah Williams added six rebounds to go with three points.
JACKSONVILLE CHRISTIAN 62, SAKS 33: Addy Lee turned in 21 points and seven assists, and JCA improved to 10-1.
Modasti Carr turned in 16 points, 10 rebounds, two steals and two assists. Mollie Mullinax added 13 points and five rebounds.
BOAZ 42, ALEXANDRIA 39: Charlee Parris scored 13 points, but Alexandria lost on a buzzer-beater. LaNajia Redwine added nine points.
Boys
ALEXANDRIA 73, BOAZ 50: Alexandria’s Cole Wheeler hit six 3-pointers on the way to 21 points.
M.J. Morris’ 16 points included two 3-pointers, and Alexandria got nine points apiece from Brayden Thompson and Russell Trantham.
JACKSONVILLE CHRISTIAN 67, SAKS 37: Noah Lee led the way with 30 points, 21 rebounds and five assists, and JCA improved to 8-6.
Bryson Dowdey added 14 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals. Wil Hudson added 10 points and five rebounds, and Jack Henry Harris grabbed nine rebounds to go with four points.
MINOR 73, JACKSONVILLE 52: Ben Pridgen led Jacksonville with 20 points and eight rebounds. The Golden Eagles also got 10 points apiece from Kamouri Harmon and Braylon Kelley, and Harmon added five rebounds, two assists and two steals.
CHAMBERS ACADEMY 78, HOPE CHRISTIAN 53: Tavin Jackson led Hope with 16 points and eight rebounds. Carter Slick added nine points, and Liam Avery had seven points and four rebounds.
