ANNISTON, AL — The Anniston Public Library’s parking lot was filled with excitement on Thursday, June 5, as children and families gathered to meet the friendly animals of Tickled Pink Petting Zoo. The event marked the official launch of the Library Children’s Department’s “Color Our World” Summer Reading program.
Beginning at 10:00 a.m. outside the library at 108 E 10th St, the event featured a short educational session where guests learned about the animals on display. Following the presentation, attendees were invited to interact with the animals—petting and observing them up close in a safe, welcoming environment.
From fluffy rabbits to miniature goats, the petting zoo delighted young readers and offered a hands-on experience aimed at sparking curiosity and enthusiasm for reading.
This free public event drew a large crowd and served as the first in a series of activities planned to promote literacy and learning throughout the summer months. The “Color Our World” theme encourages children to explore creativity, nature, and knowledge through books and programs hosted by the library.
Library staff emphasized the importance of early literacy and community engagement, hoping events like this one will inspire a lifelong love of reading.
