Preliminary reports indicate that the Chevrolet Suburban, driven by Gortney, left the roadway and overturned, resulting in severe injuries that proved fatal. The lack of a seat belt at the time of the crash further contributed to the outcome.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency emphasizes the significance of practicing safe driving habits and utilizing safety features such as seat belts. No further information is available as Troopers work to complete their investigation.
