Calhoun County, AL – Edwards shoots 3-under-par 68, low medalist as White Plains wins Chesley Oaks Invitational; Alexandria’s Allen pitches no-hitter; Oxford’s Harrison pitches one-hitter
White Plains’ boys look primed to defend their Calhoun County golf title. Sawyer Edwards was low medalist with a 3-under par 68, and the WIldcats shot an even-par 284 to win the Chesley Oaks Invitational Tuesday at Chesley Oaks Golf Course. The victory comes just ahead of Wednesday’s Oxford Invitational at Cider Ridge. The field includes White Plains, Alexandria at Oxford.
The Calhoun County tournament tees off Friday morning at Pine Hill Country Club, “We’re playing really good,” White Plains coach Chris Randall said. “I hope it gives a lot of confidence going into the county tournament.” The Wildcats’ victory in the Chesley Oaks tourney marked their second tourney victory this season. The other tourney they won was the Cross Creek Invitational in Cullman. White Plains’ scorers Tuesday also featured Wyatt Cotney, who shot a 1-under 70. Dalton Faulkner and Cam Hurst each shot 73. Weaver’s Nick Ledbetter shot 72 and finished fourth place.
