Two Lives Lost in Coosa County Crash Involving Oxford Resident

COOSA COUNTY, AL — A two-vehicle crash on Saturday, January 18, 2025, claimed the lives of two individuals, including a passenger from Oxford. The collision occurred at approximately 5 p.m. on U.S. 231 near the 181-mile marker, about six miles south of Rockford.

Kelderick J. Williams, 34, of Vestavia Hills, was fatally injured when his 2003 BMW 325xi was struck by a 2021 Nissan Murano driven by James W. Thrasher, 73, of Oxford. Williams, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Linda J. Thrasher, 70, of Oxford, a passenger in the Murano, was transported to Elmore County Hospital in Wetumpka. She later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased. James W. Thrasher sustained injuries and was transported to Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery for treatment.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division is conducting an investigation into the crash. No additional information is available at this time.
