WELLBORN — The night that saw Wellborn High School dedicate Jeff Smith Field on the Hill went perfectly for the guest of honor.
The Panthers got a touchdown apiece from Aziah Amberson, Zane Hill, Mareese Traylor, Jaheim Kirby and Braden Horton and beat Class 3A, Region 6 rival Ohatchee 40-22 in a clash of Smith’s current suitor and the school that gave him his first head coaching job.
Wellborn 4-2 overall, 4-1 in Class 3A, Region 6 play and within one region victory of clinching a playoff berth after missing the 2024 playoffs.
