Woman Shot and Killed in Anniston

Anniston, AL – On January 1, 2024 at approximately 4:30 pm, the Anniston Police Department received a call for service regarding a gunshot victim. Officers responded to the area of the 2700 block of Simpson Street and located a female that had been shot one time. The victim, identified as Kasmine L. McAfee, 21, of Anniston was transported to Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center (NEARMC) where she later died from her injuries.

Investigators on the scene were able to learn that the victim had been in a verbal argument with an unknown male who had walked onto her property. The suspect left the area immediately after the shooting. During the course of the investigation a suspect was identified as Jarvis Donquise Swink, 35, also from Anniston, and a murder warrant was obtained. On January 4, 2024 at approximately 7:30 pm, investigators learned of Swink’s possible location in Anniston and responded to that area. Swink was taken into custody and transported to the Calhoun County Jail where he was booked for one count of Murder (intentional) and is currently being held without bond.
