GADSDEN, AL – Gadsden State Community College’s baseball program is celebrating a remarkable season with top honors from the Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC). Head coach Blake Lewis has been named ACCC Coach of the Year, while sophomore infielder Aaron Wallace earned the prestigious title of Player of the Year. Wallace and fellow sophomore Jayden Roberts were also named to the ACCC Division I All-Conference First Team.
In just his second season at the helm, Lewis has orchestrated a dramatic turnaround for the Cardinals. After a 13-37 record in 2024, Gadsden State surged to a 38-13 record in 2025, earning the No. 2 seed in the ACCC Division I Region Tournament. Lewis, who was hired in 2022 as both head baseball coach and athletic director, has played a pivotal role in rebuilding a program that was disbanded in 2011 and reinstated just a few years ago.
A Pleasant Grove native, Lewis has a decorated coaching career that spans multiple institutions, including Lawson State Community College and the University of Montevallo. His coaching accolades include being named Assistant Coach of the Year by the Alabama Baseball Coaches Association and ACCC Co-Coach of the Year.
On the field, Wallace has been a standout performer, leading the ACCC with a .429 batting average. His consistency and leadership have anchored the Cardinals’ offense throughout the season.
Roberts, a power hitter from Tuscaloosa, has made a major impact as well, tying for the conference lead with 15 home runs.
“Aaron and Jayden are great student-athletes who take a lot of pride in being a Gadsden State student and a part of the baseball program,” said Coach Lewis. “They worked extremely hard and laid a great foundation for future players who come to play at Gadsden State.”
The accolades cap off a season that has solidified Gadsden State as a rising force in Alabama community college baseball.
