Main Street Anniston Honored with Seven Awards at Statewide Banquet

Main Street Award

Anniston, AL — Main Street Anniston was recognized for its outstanding work during the twelfth annual Awards of Excellence Banquet, hosted by Main Street Alabama. The event was sponsored by Energy Southeast, UB Community Development, and the Walker Area Community Foundation.

The program earned a total of seven awards:

State Director Wirth noted the statewide significance of the event, saying it highlighted “the essence of community spirit and collaboration” while showing the effectiveness of the Main Street approach in fostering growth and preserving history.

Anniston Mayor Ciara Smith also praised the local program, crediting the dedication of Director Karla Eden, staff, and the board for visible progress downtown. “Because of your efforts, Downtown Anniston is on the path of flourishing, and I am truly thankful for the way you continue to invest in our city’s future,” Smith stated.

Karla Eden, Executive Director of Main Street Anniston, emphasized that the recognition represents more than organizational success. “Being recognized at the Main Street Alabama Awards of Excellence isn’t just a win for our program—it’s a win for Anniston. It celebrates our small businesses, our volunteers, and every neighbor who has rolled up their sleeves to bring new life to downtown,” Eden said.

Main Street Alabama, a nonprofit organization, supports local communities through public-private partnerships, community engagement, and strategies that encourage job creation, new investment, visitor attraction, and sustainable development in core commercial districts.
