Montgomery, AL – Calhoun County was well represented in this year’s Farming Feeds Alabama Photo Contest, a beloved annual tradition highlighting the beauty and diversity of Alabama agriculture. The competition, sponsored by the Alabama Farmers Federation, ran from May through September and invited photographers across the state to capture the spirit of farm life — from crops and cattle to forestry and equine scenes.
Two Calhoun County photographers were among those honored in the contest’s 2025 lineup. SarahRose Fleming earned top recognition in the Youth Division for her touching photo titled “Our Little Misfit,” featuring a newborn calf named Missy. In the Adult Division, Daniel Lee received an Honorable Mention for his agricultural photography contributions.
The Farming Feeds Alabama Photo Contest began in 1986 and continues to spotlight the hardworking men and women who sustain Alabama’s farming legacy. Nearly 200 photos were submitted this year, celebrating a wide range of commodities and rural moments that tell the story of the state’s agricultural heartland.
“A picture is worth a thousand words,” said Alabama Farmers Federation Publications Director Marlee Jackson. “We value the beautiful, diverse land with which the Lord has blessed Alabama. Each photo contest is a reminder of God’s goodness and the people who feed, clothe, and care for the world.”
Other Youth Division winners included Audrey Blocker of Cullman County and Ava Villari of St. Clair County, while Adult Division honors went to Blakeney Rice of Hale County, Haley Haney of Monroe County, and Carly Puckett of Russell County. Youth winners received custom Farming Feeds Alabama Bluetooth speakers, while adult winners were presented with Sweet Grown Alabama Christmas Gift Boxes.
The Alabama Farmers Federation — the state’s largest farm organization with more than 360,000 member families — continues to promote pride in Alabama’s farming heritage, with Calhoun County once again making its mark among the state’s most talented agricultural photographers.
