ANNISTON, AL — Anniston Museums and Gardens will host its 4th Annual Longleaf Botanical Gardens Seed Swapon Saturday, January 31, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the gardens, located on Museum Drive in Anniston.
The event is designed to bring together gardeners and plant enthusiasts as they prepare for the upcoming growing season. Mid-winter is considered an ideal time for planning gardens, and the Seed Swap offers participants the opportunity to exchange seeds and learn more about seed saving practices.
Jan Stone, a local heirloom seed enthusiast from Cedartown, Georgia, will lead the program. Stone will discuss the process of saving seeds and the benefits and challenges of seed swapping, with a focus on preserving heirloom varieties.
Participants are asked to bring 10 packets of seeds to trade. Suggested seed types include annual flowers, heirloom or exotic vegetables, and flowering vines. Admission is $5 per person plus 10 seed packets. Members of Anniston Museums and Gardens may attend free of charge but are still required to bring 10 packets of seeds.
