Jax State Concert Special Featuring Jamey Johnson to Air Statewide on Alabama Public Television

Jacksonville, AL – Audiences across Alabama will soon have the opportunity to experience a live music event recorded at Jacksonville State University, as the Jamey Johnson & Friends Jam is set to premiere on Alabama Public Television on Saturday, April 25, at 8 p.m.

The concert, recorded at the Ernest Stone Performing Arts Center, features award-winning country artist Jamey Johnsonalongside Randy Owen and Nashville songwriter Rob Hatch. The performance followed a “guitar pull” format, often associated with the intimate, storytelling style popularized by venues like the Bluebird Café, and was held in the Stone Center’s 362-seat theatre.

The event also served as a fundraiser for the Randy Owen Center for Performing Arts (ROC), a new facility currently under construction on campus and expected to be completed in late 2025. According to organizers, the concert generated more than $103,000 through ticket sales and sponsorships, supporting future arts programming at the university.

University officials say momentum is continuing to build around the project. Tickets are now available for the center’s grand opening celebration, Live in Concert: Randy Owen, Alabama, and Friends, scheduled for Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at 7 p.m. The event is expected to highlight the new venue and its anticipated role in expanding performing arts opportunities for both students and the surrounding community.

In addition to its broadcast on Alabama Public Television, the performance will also be available for streaming through the PBS app on a variety of devices.
