Anniston, AL – The Public Library of Anniston-Calhoun County will begin a new weekly program designed for the community’s youngest residents and their caregivers starting in January 2025.
Baby Storytime, scheduled for Tuesday mornings at 9 a.m. in the Children’s Department, offers an hour of activities aimed at infants aged 0 to 18 months. The program kicks off Tuesday, January 7, at the library’s location at 108 E 10th St in Anniston.
According to library officials, the sessions will incorporate stories, movement, and music to support early childhood development and strengthen bonds between babies and their caregivers. The program also provides an opportunity for parents and guardians to connect with one another and learn about local family resources.
The free, public program will take place weekly on Tuesdays from 9 to 10 a.m. in the library’s Children’s Department. No prior registration appears to be required, and the event is open to anyone in the community.
Early literacy programs like Baby Storytime have become increasingly common at public libraries nationwide, with research suggesting that early exposure to books, songs, and social interaction can support language development and school readiness.
