Montgomery, AL – Calhoun County was well represented in this year’s Farming Feeds Alabama Photo Contest, a beloved annual tradition highlighting the beauty and diversity of Alabama agriculture. The competition, sponsored by the Alabama Farmers Federation, ran from May through September and invited photographers across the state to capture the spirit of farm life — from crops and cattle to forestry and equine scenes.

Two Calhoun County photographers were among those honored in the contest’s 2025 lineup. SarahRose Fleming earned top recognition in the Youth Division for her touching photo titled “Our Little Misfit,” featuring a newborn calf named Missy. In the Adult Division, Daniel Lee received an Honorable Mention for his agricultural photography contributions.

The Farming Feeds Alabama Photo Contest began in 1986 and continues to spotlight the hardworking men and women who sustain Alabama’s farming legacy. Nearly 200 photos were submitted this year, celebrating a wide range of commodities and rural moments that tell the story of the state’s agricultural heartland.

“A picture is worth a thousand words,” said Alabama Farmers Federation Publications Director Marlee Jackson. “We value the beautiful, diverse land with which the Lord has blessed Alabama. Each photo contest is a reminder of God’s goodness and the people who feed, clothe, and care for the world.”

This photo was taken the day she was born, hours before she went missing because she got spooked and ran into our neighbor’s woods. Finally, we found her. Now, she is strong and full of curiosity.”
