Calhoun County, AL – Calhoun County Schools is offering a specialized transition program designed to help students with disabilities prepare for the upcoming school year through its “Camp Kindergarten” initiative.
The program is intended for students with disabilities who will be entering kindergarten in the Calhoun County Schools district. The goal of the camp is to help ease the transition into the classroom by introducing children to the readiness skills needed to participate in both academic learning and social activities.
According to the district, Camp Kindergarten focuses on building foundational skills that help young learners become more comfortable with routines, expectations, and interactions they will experience once the school year begins.
Camp sessions will be hosted at four elementary schools across the district: Alexandria Elementary, Weaver Elementary, Wellborn Elementary, and Saks Elementary. Camp dates will vary depending on the location, but each program will run from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
All students entering kindergarten who are zoned for Calhoun County Schools are eligible to apply for the program.
