Calhoun County, AL – The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating recent property crimes and is calling on the public for help. By encouraging community involvement, the Sheriff’s Office hopes to improve public safety and hold those accountable for these criminal activities.
Property Crime: On July 22, deputies responded to a burglary alarm at the Dollar General on U.S. 78 in Anniston. They arrived to find the lower glass of the front door shattered, indicating a forced break‑in. Deputies conducted a full sweep and cleared the store with no threats found. Surveillance video shows a white male suspect kicking in the door, entering, and jumping the counter before checking the secured registers before fleeing the area. The suspect was wearing a black T‑shirt, dark pants, blue underwear, and a black bald cap.
Crime of the Week: On July 14th, deputies responded to a property in Anniston in reference to a burglary in progress. he victim stated that he was awoken by three unknown black males. The victim stated that one of the suspects struck him on the side of the face with a firearm, another fired a shot in his direction, and that all three fled the area. Detectives have since identified and arrested all three suspects, whose names are unable to be released since they are juveniles.
