Anniston, AL — A pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle operated by an Oxford Police Department (OXPD) officer on the evening of July 2, 2025. The incident occurred at approximately 9:15 PM on Alabama Highway 21 near Iron Mountain Road in Anniston.
According to authorities, the OXPD officer had just left a church service and was traveling northbound toward their residence when the collision occurred. The pedestrian, whose identity has not yet been released, was in the roadway at the time of the incident. Emergency responders pronounced the individual deceased at the scene.
The officer involved in the incident was not injured.
The Anniston Police Department is leading the investigation. No further details have been released at this time regarding the circumstances surrounding the collision.
Oxford Police Chief Bill Partridge acknowledged the incident, stating that it serves as a solemn reminder of the importance of roadway safety, especially during nighttime hours. He expressed condolences to the family of the deceased.
