Gadsden, AL – The Gadsden State Community College Police and Public Safety Department will host an Advanced Women’s Self-Defense Class on Saturday, August 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Alabama Firearms Academy, located at 100 Elizabeth Street, Suite #439, in Boaz, AL.
Open to women ages 13 and up, the free training session offers participants the chance to build confidence, enhance situational awareness, and learn practical self-defense and firearm safety skills. The event is a collaborative effort between several public safety agencies, including the Gadsden State Police and Public Safety Department, Alabama Firearms Academy, Boaz Police Department, Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, Marshall County District Attorney’s Office, and the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office.
Participants can expect instruction in hands-on self-defense techniques, legal information on self-protection, and firearm safety education. Attendees are asked to bring a functioning handgun and 50 rounds of ammunition for the firearms portion of the training.
In addition to training, lunch and snacks will be provided by Morgan House Delicatessen, and door prizes will be available thanks to local sponsors. The event aims to foster a supportive and empowering environment for women of all backgrounds and experience levels.
Chief Jay Freeman of the Gadsden State Police Department described the training as a way to equip women with tools for safety and self-reliance. “We’re honored to bring this level of training to Boaz and sincerely thank the Alabama Firearms Academy for the invitation to serve their community through this collaborative effort,” Freeman said.
