Governor Ivey to Ceremonially Sign Bills in ‘Safe Alabama’ Public Safety Package

Montgomery, AL –  Governor Kay Ivey held a celebratory bill signing event Thursday at the Alabama State Capitol to ceremonially sign legislation included in the Safe Alabama public safety package. The event took place on the front steps of the Capitol in Montgomery and was attended by state leaders, lawmakers, and members of the public.

The Safe Alabama package was first introduced by Governor Ivey during her 2025 State of the State address. The initiative was developed in partnership with Speaker of the House Nathaniel Ledbetter, Senate President Pro Tem Garlan Gudger, and a bipartisan group of legislators. The goal of the package is to strengthen Alabama’s law enforcement infrastructure and address crime, particularly in urban areas.

The legislation includes measures aimed at increasing resources for law enforcement agencies, improving recruitment and retention of officers, and introducing new strategies to combat crime in high-need areas.
