Piedmont Police Chief Nathan Johnson Announces Major Drug Bust

Piedmont Trafficking Arrest

Piedmont, AL – Piedmont Police Chief Nathan Johnson announced a significant drug-related arrest made by the Piedmont Police Department on February 21, 2024. The suspect, identified as Preston Eugene Keller, age 41 of Piedmont, was taken into custody following a traffic stop that uncovered a substantial amount of illicit substances and prohibited items.

According to Chief Johnson on February 21, 2024 Investigators with the Piedmont Police Department observed a red Nissan Sentra fail to stop at a stop sign and accelerate at a high rate of speed. The vehicle failed to maintain the lane riding the shoulder of the road. A traffic stop was conducted and while investigating the traffic stop investigators seized 66 +/- grams of Methamphetamine, Marijuana, Drug Paraphernalia, a Taurus G2C 9mm, and $2,238 in US Currency.

Preston Eugene Keller, age 41 of Piedmont, was arrested and charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Certain Persons Forbidden to Possess a Firearm.

Mr. Keller is currently being held on a $34,000 Total Bond, with a Preliminary Hearing scheduled for March 18, 2024, at 1:30 pm at the Calhoun County District Court. Chief Johnson emphasized that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
