WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-AL) has joined Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) and several Senate Republicans in introducing a resolution supporting the United States’ and Israel’s military strikes on Iran, including the recently executed Operation Midnight Hammer. The resolution expresses strong support for U.S. and allied military personnel involved in the strike and affirms the importance of preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear capabilities.
According to the resolution, the coordinated operation aimed to dismantle Iran’s nuclear infrastructure and end hostilities during the recent 12-day conflict between Israel and Iran. The text commends the “surgical and successful” mission, attributing its execution to U.S. military strength and strategic cooperation with Israel.
Senator Britt emphasized her support for the military and called the mission a defining moment in national security policy. “Protecting America and our allies from the existential threat of a nuclear-armed Iran is paramount, and I remain committed to ensuring Iran’s nuclear program ceases to exist,” she stated.
The resolution also recognizes former President Donald Trump for his role in shaping Middle East policy, particularly citing his efforts in brokering the Abraham Accords and supporting Operation Midnight Hammer. Lawmakers sponsoring the resolution advocate for Trump’s consideration for the Nobel Peace Prize, describing his approach as instrumental in securing what they view as a period of relative stability in the region.
“Our resolution also recognizes President Trump as deserving of the Nobel Peace Prize,” said Britt, highlighting what she characterized as “historic peace” efforts.
Operation Midnight Hammer has been the subject of both praise and international scrutiny, with some world leaders warning of potential escalations and humanitarian consequences. Proponents of the resolution argue that the strikes have restored deterrence and reduced long-term threats to global security.
The resolution does not carry the force of law but is intended to formally express the Senate’s position on the matter. It reiterates opposition to Iran’s nuclear ambitions and affirms ongoing support for U.S. servicemembers and strategic alliances in the region.
