ANNISTON — A father-son team of Robin and Caden Wood shot a blistering 60 in Saturday’s early morning tee time and then had to wait to see if the lead would hold up at the 18th annual Buddy Moore Charity Two-man golf tournament at “The Hill “in Anniston.

That lead would hold up as another father-son team, Ott and Carson Chandler, would match that 60. The team of Andrew Brooks-Brennan Clay matched the 60 as the defending champions put themselves in the mix for Sunday’s final round.

“We shot 3 under and 7 under after parring number one and bogeying two,” Robin Wood said. Caden, a senior golfer at Piedmont, “made some good long putts and that really helps.”

Ott Chandler called playing with his son “just a thrill.”

”We had some good shots out there today,” he said. “This is such a great place to play. You see all the names on the wall, and you realize all the history in this place and all the players that have won here.

“It is more than just golf, and a lot of these players are no longer around.”

Brooks and Clay have teamed to win the tournament three times.

“We are in position,” Brooks said.

Due to the way the scoring worked out and having to play a morning and afternoon 18 holes, it appears that the three teams will play in the last group. What a finish it should be.
